What is AYURVEDA?

Ayurveda can be described simply as a natural system of medicine. It is one of the oldest holistic practices rooted in India, dating back more than 3,000 years. Ayurveda quite literally means the Science Of Life, ‘ayus’ meaning life, and ‘veda’ meaning science. It is a complex and extremely fascinating system that connects our constitution (prakriti), unique energetic combinations (vata, pitta, and kapha) that circulate within our body, with food and lifestyle that can prevent us from developing any illness or disease.

Ayurveda is highly regarded and has become recognized field of study as people all over the world discover its wisdom and practical and effective healing techniques.

You may be wondering, have I done anything that relates to Ayurveda? I can guarantee that you have at least heard or practiced one of the Ayurvedic practices listed below:

  • Lemon water

  • Yoga

  • Oil Pulling

  • Oil Massage

  • Tongue scraping (my favorite!)

  • Dry Brushing

See, I told you! You’re already practicing Ayurveda and you didn’t even know it!
